Why, hello all my lovely peeps!
Hehe... peeps...
Welcome to my blog! Like many women in America, I have struggled with my weight. This blog is about my adventure in getting healthy, both physically and mentally! My hope is that this will not only keep my accountable, but maybe inspire someone out there to take their first steps to a healthy lifestyle. This is why I'm going to be completely open, honest, and candid about my journey. Everything from my "slip ups" to how much I actually way will be posted here. I will also post current pictures of me so we can see if there is any physical change.
So, what prompted this you wonder? So many things! Last year, my best friend got married. Actually, both my best friends got married, but not to each other. I was a bridesmaid for one of those weddings. HOWEVER, when I went online to buy my dress (the bride was awesome! She chose an affordable dress from target's website!) I realized; it's not available in my size!!! AAAAAAHHHH! What was available? Well, I could either go one size too small or three sizes too big. Naturally, I went with the 1 size to small. All I had to do was lose a little bit of weight, and I'd be fine! Right...?
Unfortunately, it had been a loooooooong time since I had worn a dress (literally 10 years!) so I had guesstimated my size based on my current clothes. Apparently, the dress was actually TWO SIZES TOO SMALL! OH GOD!
I was desperate! I worked out like a fiend, I tried different diets, I did everything I could!
Now, I'll be honest here... while I was working out, I did NOT eat the healthiest and when I "tried" different diets I did not have the discipline I needed and ended up cheating A LOT! It literally came down to less than 2 months before the wedding and I couldn't even get the dress close to zipping up and this was not a dress you could alter!
Then one day, I noticed a coworker's clothes were suddenly very baggy on her. When did that happen? I immediately asked her if she had lost weight, how much, and how did she do it?!! A friend of hers told her about this plan, the 20/30 FastTrack diet. Pretty much, you had a list of items you could eat and each week you introduced a new food to see how you reacted. The plan claimed you could lose up to 20 lbs in 30 days! Now, naturally, I had my doubts. That couldn't be healthy... no way... but that's probably what I needed to lose to fit into this dress... I joined the program.
I was pleasantly surprised! I physically felt better! My sleeping schedule had fixed itself, I was waking up at 8am on my own with no alarm everyday! I watched as the weight continued to melt off me! Seriously, I was looking at almost a pound a day going bye bye. I was floored! Yes, I did experience some headaches at first, mainly because of my addiction to sugar and soda, but the migraines I was prone to suddenly stopped! And if you've ever had a migraine, you know a headache is nothing in comparison!
The day of the wedding came... and I could fit perfectly into my dress! BABAM!!!
The wedding was beautiful! My best friend married the love of her life, it was a good day... except for the food... Don't get me wrong, the food was DELICIOUS! Buuuuuut, it was the first step to my realization that I was no longer desperate to lose weight.
I fell of the wagon. Big time.
Long story... not so long: A year later and not only have I gained back that 20lbs I had lost, I gained back ANOTHER 10lbs... such is the way, isn't it? I have tried multiple times to restart the program, but my dedication, desperation, and discipline just were not there.
The suckiest part of all of this... I threw out ALL my old clothes when I lost the weight except for a few items. So now, I can't fit into my clothes!!!! AAAAAAHHHHH!
It is time for me to start my weight loss journey again. Maybe not with the program necessarily, but with basic healthy eating practices. Wish me luck! I'll keep you lovely people apprised of my progress and would LOVE to hear about yours as well!
Current weight: 212 lbs
